The supernatural thriller NOS4A2 is back with a second season, according to Rolling Stone. Emmy-nominated actor and producer Zachary Quinto (Star Trek franchise) and Ashleigh Cummings (The Goldfinch) return to the AMC series adaptation of Joe Hill’s bestselling novel of the same name on June 21st.
NOS4A2 revolves around a feud of morality between Vic McQueen, a young woman with supernatural abilities played by Cummings, and Charlie Manx, an immortal, played by Quinto, whose reputation is stealing the souls of young children and depositing them in limbo.
The second season takes place eight years after the first season with the focal point being confronting past mistakes for the security of the future. The trailer reveals that this storyline will closely follow the novel’s narrative in that Vic begins a romantic relationship with Lou, played by Jonathon Langdon (No Tomorrow), who helped her against Charlie in the first season. The pair have a son named Wayne, played by Jason David (For All Mankind), and struggle to move on with their lives after the tragic events of the first season, all while coming to realize that Charlie is still alive and has a new target.
Entertainment Weekly talked to Cummings who said, “From the moment I signed on, I’ve been really interested in this part of Vic’s journey through her mental health issues, and so on. I’m really excited about it and have been ruminating, and my head’s been ticking over with ideas and thoughts.” With season two, viewers will be able better understand Vic and how she copes with her past.
The cast also features Jahkara Smith (Pure), Olafur Darri Olafsson (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Tokyo Project), Virginia Kull (Big Little Lies), Ashley Romans (Shameless), and Mattea Conforti (Frozen 2). Novelist Joe Hill returns to the series as executive producer alongside showrunner Jami O’Brien (Fear the Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels).
The second season premieres on AMC Sunday, June 21st at 9 PM EST. Check out the official trailer below:
