AMC’s ‘Dark Winds’ Releases Season Two Trailer Ahead of July Premiere

AMC returns to the 1970s southwest with the second season of the crime drama, Dark Winds. According to Deadline, the Robert Redford (Out of Africa, The Sting) and George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon)-produced series released the season’s first trailer. View the trailer below.

The second season reunites viewers with Lt. Joe Leaphorn and his former deputy, Jim Chee, as they race to track down a twisted assassin itching to unleash chaos within Navajo Country. With the aid of Sgt. Manuelito, the three discover the killer is somewhat connected to old wounds in Leaphorn’s past, bringing the danger ever closer to home.

The trailer reveals new additions to the cast including Jeri Ryan (Body of Proof, Bosch) as Rosemary Vines and Nicholas Logan (The Best of Enemies, I Care A Lot) as the nefarious Colton Wolf, via Deadline. We also have A. Martinez (Longmire, The Cowboys) as Sheriff Gordo Sena, and Joseph Running Fox (Geronimo, Blood Red) as Henry Leaphorn, Joe’s father.

They are joined by series regulars Zahn McClarnon (Reservation Dogs, Westworld), Kiowa Gordon (Blood Quantum, The Lesser Blessed), and Jessica Matten (Frontier, Burden of Truth). Also returning are Deanna Allison (Edge of America), who played Joe’s wife Emma, and Elva Guerra (Reservation Dogs, You and Me This Summer), who plays Sally Growing Thunder.

Based on the crime novels by Tony Hillerman (Dance Hall of the Dead, Listening Woman), Dark Winds is created by Graham Roland (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Lost). Additional executive producers include Anne Hillerman (Spider Woman’s Daughter, Song of the Lion), Chris Eyre (Smoke Signals, Skins), Vince Gerardis (Jumper, The Door Into Summer), Tina Elmo (You’ve Got Mail, Random Hearts), McClarnon, and showrunner, John Wirth (Fistful of Vengeance, Wu Assassins). AMC Studios produces the series.

According to Deadline, season two of Dark Winds is set to premiere on Sunday, July 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. Subscribers to AMC+ can watch the six-episode season early beginning Thursday, July 27 with each episode being released weekly.
