The Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek) led comedy series Kevin Can F**k Himself at AMC has landed a premiere date. The series will first debut on Sunday, June 13 on AMC+ followed by a second premiere date on June 20 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC, as reported by Deadline.
Kevin Can F**k Himself takes the American sitcom that we’ve all become familiar with and flips it on its head. Long gone are the days of the sitcom when the wife would enter the family room where her husband and his friends would drink beer, turn her into a punchline, and then she’d leave the room having served her purpose. Now, the sitcom is being told from her perspective.
Murphy will star as Allison McRoberts, and, at first glance, she meets all the characteristics of the classic sitcom wife. She’s married to the unexceptional Kevin, she does the dishes, she folds the laundry, and cooks dinner. But Kevin Can F**k Himself follows Allison when she leaves the kitchen and ventures out into the real world. It asks why we’ve turned the wife in sitcoms into the punchline of every joke, and what happens when she finally wakes up and revolts. In the case of Kevin Can F**K himself, Allison may or may not begin to plot the murder of her husband.
Valerie Armstrong (Lodge 49) serves as the series creator of Kevin Can F**K Himself. It’s executive produced by Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreations) and Will McCormack (Celeste and Jess Forever). Craig DiGregorio (Ash vs. Evil Dead) executive produces alongside them and is the series showrunner. The cast also includes Mary Hollis Inboden (The Real O’Neals), Eric Petersen (Madagascar: A Little Wild), Alex Bonifer (Superstore), Brian Howe (The Pursuit fo Happyness), and Raymond Lee (Here and Now).
Kevin Can F**K himself with be available to watch on both AMC+ and AMC. It will air the first two episodes on AMC+ on June 13, which will be followed with both episodes then premiering back to back on AMC Sunday, June 20. From there, AMC+ will air a new episode weekly, with AMC following a week after on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. E. The season has a total of eight episodes.
