AMC Releases ‘The Walking Dead’ Sneak Peak. Is Daryl Dead?

Let’s talk about The Walking Dead. The biggest question on every fan’s mind since the season finale is, of course: who dies? The Walking Dead ended with an impressive cliffhanger, convincing fans everywhere that one of their favorite characters died at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

The finale ended with Negan bludgeoning someone, presumably to death, with his baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. However, the last few minutes of the episode showed the attack from the victim’s point of view. That mean just about anyone could have been Negan’s target.

Now, many fans have been thinking that Glenn (Steven Yeun) will be dead in the season seven premiere. In the comics the show is based on, Glenn is notoriously beaten to death by Negan, which has many fans suspecting this is the end of the road for Glenn Rhee. Even though the show previously tricked many fans into thinking Glenn had been eaten by swarm of walkers, nobody seems to put it past the writers to kill him of for real this time.

Sure, maybe we’ve seen the last of Glenn, but new footage has surfaced that may mean bad news for a different character. On Sunday night, AMC released a special sneak peak at the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. It’s only 50 seconds long, but already fans have picked it apart for clues for the upcoming season.

Check it out below.

As you can see, the clip features Dwight (Austin Amelio) who is one of Negan’s henchman. And it seems like a typical day for someone surviving the zombie apocalypse until you realize he’s riding Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) motorcycle and wearing his iconic vest.

This could mean that fan-favorite Daryl dies in the beginning of season seven, or this could be the show’s way of trying to throw fans off and keep them guessing.

Either way, we really won’t know until the season seven premiere, which according to executive producer Scott M Gimple, is going to be heartbreaking. “You know the beginning, and it’s almost here, so enjoy your summer because the beginning is someone’s end,” Deadline reports the showrunner said. “But it is a beginning. What happens in episode one will shatter the lives of those who survive and will rend the narrative into different trajectories in which we will see our characters in completely new situations, torn from the pages of the comic and remixed in The Walking Dead remixinator 5000.”

Well that doesn’t sound good. What do you think? Is Daryl really dead?

The Walking Dead returns October 23 on AMC.
