AMC has renewed its upcoming new drama, The Audacity, for a second season, according to Deadline. The series, created by Jonathaon Glatzer (Better Call Saul, Bloodline), follows the employees and an ambiguously confident CEO of a tech company in Silicon Valley. The drama stars Billy Magnussen (Road House, Game Night), Sarah Goldberg (The Night House, Barry), Zach Galifianakis (Masterminds, Due Dates), Lucy Punch (Jingle Bell Heist, Ella Enchanted), Simon Helberg (Big Bang Theory, A Cinderella Story), and Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine 2, What Happens In Vegas).
A trailer for the show is below:
Deadline writes that the second season will consist of eight episodes, just like the first. And casting for season two is already underway. The series is the first of three Silicon Valley-focused shows previously announced. The second, CBS’s Cupertino, is set to premiere later this year. The third, Netflix’s Thumblite, remains in development after a few setbacks.
According to Deadline, the show remains on par with AMC’s risk-taking programming. While it has mined hits like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the network cannot always compete with the budgets of HBO or Apple TV, which outbid them on securing Pluribus. It has become more known for underrated, critically acclaimed shows such as Halt and Catch Fire and its current Immortal Universe based on Anne Rice’s (Interview with the Vampire, Lasher) horror novels.
AMC posted this on instagram:
“From the start, The Audacity exists because Kristin Dolan, Dan McDermott, and AMC Networks decided that ‘playing it safe’ is vastly overrated, said Glazer via Deadline. “They’ve enabled me and our fearless cast to dive headfirst into the deep recesses of some beautifully flawed characters, all set against the backdrop of Silicon Valley, which only happens to have the power to shape how we work, argue, date, doomscroll, etc. And now, with this second season pick-up, AMC Networks has stood by their conviction with this wholly original satire. As The Audacity‘s creator, I could not be more grateful, but also as a fan of original and slightly dangerous stories, I am ecstatic.”
Written and produced by Glatzer, Gina Mingacci (Killing Eve, Beautiful Girls) is an executive producer, while Lucy Forbes (In My Skin, Eric) directs the first two episodes, Deadline reports. The series will have its world premiere at the SXSW Festival on March 14 and officially debut on TV on April 12.
