According to Deadline, multiple AMC Networks series, including A Discovery of Witches, Fear the Walking Dead, and Killing Eve, will be available to stream on Max as part of a new digital arrangement. Warner Bros. Discovery and AMC Networks have struck a “programming pop-up” deal, which will allow over 200 episodes of seven shows to stream on Max.
The series will be available on Max from September 1 until October 31.
Seasons one through seven of Fear the Walking Dead, four seasons of Killing Eve, A Discovery of Witches, five seasons of Ride with Norman Reedus, two seasons of Gangs of London, and season one of Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire will all be available to stream on Max.
They will be available on both the ad-lite and ad-free services on Max. They will not include any advertising as they will be a part of AMC+ Picks on Max. Deadline reports that this is seen as an experiment for AMC Networks to try and increase viewers of these series in the hopes that they will sign up for AMC+.
According to Deadline, at a MoffettNathanson event in May, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav explained that he believes that the industry needs to start to repackage and market products together. He stated, “It seems very clear that if we were to package this great product that we have with others, we would wake up tomorrow, and in each market, if we are the number one, or two, or three product, if we were marketing with the number two or three for a specific price it would be great for consumers. It would probably reduce churn. We would [all] be marketing one product. And it would provide a meaningful consumer experience,” reports Deadline.
Zaslov continued, “If we don’t do it to ourselves, I think it will be done to us. It will be Amazon who does it, or Apple who does it, or Roku who does it. They’ve already started.”
