AMC Drops ‘Vampire Lestat’ Trailer as it Rebrands ‘Interview with a Vampire’ for Season Three

Deadline has reported that the new trailer for Vampire Lestat, essentially the third season of Interview with Vampire, rebranded to fit the new angle of the second book, has been released by AMC. In this chapter, Lestat, Sam Reid (The Newsreader, The Astronaut Wives Club),  is no longer revealed through the eyes of his partner, Louis, played by Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who), but is now seen first-person as a “Brat Prince” rockstar who seems to be more of a misunderstood antihero than an evil villain.

The trailer has a dramatic entrance befitting any true rock star, with Lestat walking onto the stage and grabbing his guitar while the narrator hypes him up as if he were walking into the ring. It’s mentioned that he has been around since the French Revolution, foreshadowing narratives this season about Lestat’s connection to the bloody uprising. It’s confirmed there will be appearances of pivotal figures from Lestat’s origin story, such as Magnus, Nicholas de Lenfent, Gabrielle, and Marius. Most notably, the season will revisit the night of “the trial,” giving a more personal point of view from Lestat’s angle.

The trailer continues with Lestat sharing his zero body fat physique that could only be inhumanly possible through a diet of human blood to the crowd as he sings to “Dancing with Myself” by Billy Idol, to the crowd’s great joy.  After being told he has thousands of fans, Lestat says he wants millions. He also hears the voice of his muse telling him everyone dies, to which he replies, “I’m immortal.” Although his eyes seem to have a bit of doubt in them. This really nails home the concept of the savage garden that Lestat profoundly articulates in the books, where the beauty of the world collides with its darkness. The whole trailer is a savage garden with Lestat yelling, “I’m a god!” at the end. Yet the darkness of Gabrielle’s words rings in his head, reminding him that everything becomes prey.

Mxdwn has also reported that the show released single to promote the show that really helps bring Lestat’s rockstar persona alive. Titled, “Long Face” by obviously no other than the Vampire Lestat. You can find the single on all major streaming platforms if you want to get into the mood before the show drops.

The Vampire Lestat takes the stage Sunday, June 7th, at 9 pm ET on AMC, with episodes available to stream early on AMC+.
