AMC Drops First Episode Sneak Peek and Final Promotional Details for ‘The Audacity’

Continuing to promote its upcoming corporate satire flagship series, The Audacity, according to an AMC press release, the company has released a sneak peek of episode one, titled “Who leaked the acquisition rumor?” The show is scheduled to air on April 12th of this year with a two-episode premiere on AMC+ with simulcast on Samsung TV Plus, IFC, and SundanceTV.

The sneak peek gives Succession vibes, which makes sense, being that the showrunner is none other than Emmy Award-winning Johnathan Glatzer (Bad Sisters, Succession). It sets the stage for a corporate tech comedy with a phone call about who leaked the acquisition to the press, a move that would inflate stock. The call goes south as the CEO brings up the fact that the acquisition talks have dissipated, and now the company’s value will plummet. The leaker refuses to take responsibility for said leak as he claims it is only one of the possibilities on the “tree of outcomes.”

The press release details the plot of the show as “Set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, the series stars Billy Magnussen (Lilo and Stitch, Road House) as Duncan Park, Sarah Goldberg (Sisters, Barry) as Dr. JoAnne Felder, and Zach Galifianakis (Between Two Ferns, The Bob’s Burgers Movie as Carl Bardolph as the darkly comedic drama confronts reality, privacy, and the delusions fueling our ever-changing world.”

Mxdwn has reported that AMC has doubled down on the new series with high expectations, as they have already announced the show is renewed for a second season before the premiere has even dropped. This is a huge show of confidence in Glatzer that is well deserved if his portfolio speaks for itself. The early renewal also signals to the high-powered cast that the studio is in it for the long haul and hopes to keep them around. This is a huge counternarrative to the sneak peek, as the investors are here to stay for the show.
