AMC’s Immortal Universe is reduced to a duo. Deadline reports the third series in the franchise, Talamasca: The Secret Order, has been canceled. The series premiered last year.
The series followed a secret sect of investigators that track happenings of the supernatural. While not based on any particular work from Anne Rice (The Vampire Chronicles, Queen of the Damned), the series pulls from the greater mythology. The show saw Nicholas Denton (Glitch, Eden) as Guy Anatole, an orphan who finds himself recruited to The Order because of his unique mind-reading abilities. Soon, he discovers his past is more intertwined with the organization than he first believed.
Joining Denton were Celine Buckens (Showtrial, Shelter), William Fichtner (Crash, Beef), Elizabeth McGovern (And Mrs, War of the Worlds), and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers, Jagged Mind). Jason Schwartzman (Mountainhead, Queer) appeared in a guest role, and both Justin Kirk (The Burbs, Ghosts) and Eric Bogosian (Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Reptile) appeared as their Interview With the Vampire characters.
“While we are not proceeding with another season of Talamasca: The Secret Order, we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved,” AMC said in a statement via Deadline. “The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”
Talamasca: The Secret Order premiered last October. mxdwn previewed the series at 2025’s ATX TV Festival with showrunners John Lee Hancock (The Little Things, Snow White and the Huntsman) and Mark Lafferty (Manhattan, Castle Rock). Fans of the franchise can still look forward to the third seasons of its other series. Interview With the Vampire‘s third season, aptly titled The Vampire Lestat, arrives this June. It will follow Sam Reid’s (Newsreader, Belle) immortal blood-sucker in his new role as rock musician. And the third season of Mayfair Witches is set to depart from canon as Rowan explores other witches in Salem.
