AMC has cancelled Low Winter Sun after only one season due to low ratings.
According to Variety, the drama debuted on AMC in August and had a strong lead-in with Breaking Bad. However, the show could not keep viewership from falling. The show attracted 2.5 million viewers when it debuted but the numbers quickly fell to just under 1 million viewers at the end of its run in October. The show, based on a British miniseries, followed homicide detectives who kill a dirty cop.
Endemol produced Low Winter Sun and Chris Mundy developed the drama. It starred Mark Strong and Lennie James. Low Winter Sun was the only new scripted show to debut this year from AMC.
