AMC announced that for the third installment of their horror anthology series, The Terror: Devil in Silver, actor Dan Stevens (Abigail, Cuckoo) will join as an executive producer and star as its lead. The Terror series debuted as “AMC+’s most watched library release ever in the first month” when it was released in the Fall of 2023.
According to the official press release, “Stevens will play Pepper, a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital – an institution filled with the people society would rather forget. There, he must contend with patients who work against him, doctors who harbor grim secrets, and perhaps even the very Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face down the entity which thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls – but doing so may prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.”
Leading the writing for The Terror: Devil in Silver is Victor LaValle (The Changeling, The Ballad of Black Tom), author of Devil in Silver, for which this third season is inspired by and Chris Cantwell (Paper Girls, Halt and Catch Fire), via AMC. Both LaValle and Cantwell are also set as executive producers on the project. Joining as executive producers as well are Ridley Scott (The Martian, Blade Runner), David W. Zucker (The Good Wife, The Good Fight), Scott Lambert (Tár, The Silence), Alexandra Milchan (Black Bird, Tár), Brooke Kennedy (The Good Wife, The Good Fight), Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones, The Terror) and Karyan Kusama (Yellowjackets, Jennifer’s Body). Kusama is set to direct the first two episodes of the season.
In anticipation of his role, Stevens shared with AMC, “I’m thrilled to be a part of The Terror: Devil in Silver. This series is a dark symphony of psychological horror and gripping drama, set to rock the audience. Victor LaValle, Christopher Cantwell, and this incredible team have crafted a unique and twisted dance of devils and shadows. I look forward to delivering something epic that will echo through the halls like an iron bell.”
This third series installment is a new story set in The Terror universe rather than a continuation of previous seasons. In the past, the series has followed events set during World War II in a Japanese internment camp and on a British naval expedition gone wrong after the ship becomes stuck in ice while on the search for the Northwest Passage, as per AMC.
Stevens’ role as the lead in The Terror: Devil in Silver comes after his involvement in replacing Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites) as the voice of Korvo in Hulu’s hit adult animation show Solar Opposites for the series fourth season via mxdwn.
The Terror: Devil in Silver is set to premiere in 2025 and will be available to watch on AMC and AMC+.
