Amazon Video’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Series Loses Another Lead in Reina Hardesty

Fans of Amazon Video’s The Boys have some bad news regarding casting for the upcoming spinoff show. In a recent story from Deadline, Reina Hardesty (The Flash) is the third actor cast in a lead role for the spinoff show that has been in production for over a year. The series, which was greenlit by Amazon Studios last September, aims to be a spinoff of the original critically-acclaimed show set in an American college for young adults with superpowers and abilities.

In addition to the departure of Ms. Hardesty, Aimee Carrero (MAID) and Shane Paul McGhie (Deputy) have also left their lead roles in the show to be recast, which may cause different creative decisions to be made regarding the writing around their characters in the final script. The characters are going to be redeveloped by the series showrunners Michele Fazekas (Law and Order: SVU) and Tara Butters (Reaper).

For fans following other developments for the comic-based series, receiving the new season announcement couldn’t happen sooner. The long-awaited third season is coming to Amazon Video on June 3, with the animated short series “The Boys: Diabolical” currently streaming.
