Amazon Thriller Series ‘Absentia’ Season 2 Premieres June 14

Amazon’s thriller series Absentia it’s set to return for Season 2 on June 14 and according to the trailer, FBI agent Emily Byrne’s (Stana Katic) new life has not gotten any easier, according to TV Guide. Emily was held captive for six years without memory of how she was captured. In Season 1, she hunted down her abductor and killed him. Unfortunately, killing her kidnapper did not make coming back to life easier since her husband has moved on and her son Flynn is being raised by another woman. In Season 2, Emily will realize that getting revenge does not erase the damage that the torture caused. She will hire detective Tommy Gibbs (Angel Bonanni), who will help her find answers about the questions she has about her past. However,  looking for these answers becomes deadly, since she uncovers a serial killer, and she will have to risk everything in order to keep her family safe.

The series is executive produced and directed by Oded Ruskin, together with executive producers Julie Glucksman, Stana Katic and Maria Feldman. Adam Sanderson and Kasia Adamik also direct. The series was created by Gaia Violo and Matt Cirulnick and is based on a pilot script originally written by Violo.

Actors Matthew Le Nevez and Natasha Little join the show. Le Nevez will play the character Cal Isaac, a tough ex-Navy SEAL with an optimistic disposition. Cal is familiar with the demons that hunt Emily and is a loyal and supportive partner. Little will play the character Julianne Gunnarsen, a talented, mysterious, and beautiful FBI profiler who joins the Boston FBI Field Office after the city is attacked by terrorists. Patrick Heusinger (Nick Durand), plays Emily’s ex-husband and Special Agent for Season 2 as well.

The cast also includes Cara Theobold, Neil Jackson, Angel Bonanni, Paul Freeman, and Patrick McAuley. Currently in production in Sofia, Bulgaria, the series was commissioned for Sony Pictures Television’s international networks, is produced by Masha Productions and distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Season 2 is scheduled to debut on Prime Video in 2019 in the U.S. and in some other countries, including Australia, Austria, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, and the U.K., according to Variety. The show premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 14.
