Amazon Renews ‘Z: The Beginning of Everything’ for Season Two

Zelda Fitzgerald is back for more. Variety has confirmed that Amazon has renewed Z: The Beginning of Everything for its second season. The renewal comes as somewhat of a surprise, after the show received lukewarm reception from critics when it was first launched back in January.

Z: The Beginning of Everything stars Christina Ricci as Zelda Sayre, a southern socialite who starts to become bored with her life in Montgomery. Her life changes when she meets F. Scott Fitzgerald (portrayed by David Hoflin in the series) and they begin their love story, which is quite well-known today, even though it began nearly 100 years ago.

The series also stars Jamie Anne Allman, David Strathairn, Corey Cott, Jordan Dean, Natalie Knepp, Christina Bennett Lind and Holly Curran. The series was adapted from the novel Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, which was written by Therese Anne Fowler. Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin created the series and serve as executive producers, along with Ricci, Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon. Fowler is credited as a producer of the series.

The first season focused on Zelda meeting, falling in love with and marrying F. Scott Fitzgerald. It’s unclear as to what the second season of the show will cover. Currently, Amazon hasn’t released any plot details about the second season and hasn’t announced when filming or when the second season will be released for streaming.

The first season of Z: The Beginning of Everything is currently streaming on Amazon.
