Amazon Prime’s ‘The Boys’ Announces New Cast Members Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry for Season Four

According to Entertainment Weekly, two new cast members are joining the cast of The Boys on Amazon Prime. Actress Susan Heyward (Delilah, Orange is the New Black) will be playing Sister Sage and actress Valorie Curry (The Lost Symbol, The Tick) will be playing Firecracker as the new superheroes in the show.

Alongside the names of the new cast members, Amazon also released official photos of the two actresses in their superhero costumes. The costumes were designed by Laura Jean Shannon (Doom Patrol, Titans) who has been in charge of creating and designing the costumes for the superheroes of the show since the first season. No other details have been revealed about the new characters and it seems the audience will have to wait to learn more about them until the new season comes out.

In the official photos, via Entertainment Weekly, there are few details on the character’s costumes that might hint at what’s coming. Heyward’s Sister Sage costume has a Louis Vuitton-inspired letter pattern on the suit. The outfit has the design “SS” in different parts of the suit, including her belt, the weaving chain, and the collar around her neck. Another important detail to notice in the suit is the presence of a symbol, an eye, that is a significant detail in her chest. According to Entertainment Weekly, Amazon released a line accompanying the picture that said “Sister Sage is a thousand steps ahead of everyone.” This combined with the eye symbols gives the fans a hint into what her powers could be: clairvoyance.

Curry’s character Firecracker might remind viewers of a different character, according to Entertainment Weekly the character is “like a patriotic Lara Croft.” The look for the new character Firecracker focuses on guns, the pistol in her thigh holster complimenting the gun symbols in her belt. And like many gun-toting patriots, she wears red, white, and blue.

The Boys follows a group of non-powered humans that seek to expose the superheroes for who they really are. The group, which calls themselves the Boys, is composed of Billy Butcher played by Karl Urban (Star Trek, Thor: Ragnarok), Hughie Campbell played by Jack Quaid (Scream, Harvey Girls Forever!), MM played by Laz Alonso (Wrath of Man, L.A.’s Finest), Frenchie played by Tomer Capone (Fauda, One on One), and Kimiko played by Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad, Craig of the Creek).

Hughie’s life changes drastically after his girlfriend gets accidentally killed by superhero A-Train played by Jessie T. Usher (Smile, Dangerous Lies). It is after this incident that Hughie meets Butcher and starts working with him to reveal the dark secrets of the superheroes working for Vought, the company in charge of the so-called heroes. The company is also in charge of the publicity for the heroes and so they are aware of all the problems the heroes cause to everyday people. The heroes working with Vought are Homelander played by Antony Starr (American Gothic, Banshee), Starlight also known as Annie played by Erin Moriarty (Jessica Jones, Red Widow), A-train, The Deep played by Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl, Inheritance), Queen Maeve played by Dominique McElligott (The Last Tycoon, House of Cards) and Black Noir played by Nathan Mitchell (Ginny & Georgia, iZombie).

The season finale of season three gave the viewers some hints about what might happen in season four. Part of it will be the fight for the soul of Ryan, played by Cameron Crovetti (Big Little Lies, Dirty John), the son of Homelander and Butcher’s dead wife Becca played by Shantel VanSanten (FBI, For All Mankind). It is yet to be seen how Sister Sage and Firecracker are going to fit into the narrative of the show.

The Boys seasons one through three are available to watch on Amazon’s Prime Video.
