Amazon Prime’s alternate history drama Hunters is coming to an end. David Weil (Invasion, Solos) created the series and Jordan Peele (Nope, Candyman) is one of its executive producers. The show will end after its second season, according to Deadline.
According to Deadline, the show follows a diverse band of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as the group is known, discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials were living among regular people and were conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States.
According to Entertainment Weekly, season two will occur in 1979, two years after the first season, and will focus on the worldwide hunt for Adolf Hitler, played by Udo Kier (Swan Song, The Blazing World), to try to eliminate him once and for all. The group found out that he was alive and had been hiding in a lavish compound in South America, secretly plotting a Fourth Reich in the United States with his wife Eva Braun played by Lena Olin (Riviera, Adam), later revealed to be the Colonel. The new and final season will premiere on January 13.
Some first-look photos via Entertainment Weekly, confirm the return of the core group of Nazi hunters. Among the returning characters, we can find Jonah Heidelbaum played by Logan Lerman (Bullet Train, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Millie Morris played by Jerrika Hinton (Here and Now, Odious), Lonny Flash played by Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother, Mercy Street), Roxy Jones played by Tiffany Boone (The Chi, The Midnight Sky), and Sister Harriet played by Kate Mulvany (Elvis, The Twelve). Other characters returning for season two include Travis Leich, a sadistic incel played by Greg Austin (Mr. Selfridge, Summer of Rockets), and Meyer Offerman played by Al Pacino (The Godfather, House of Gucci).
The new cast members announced for season two, apart from Kier, include Jennifer Jason Leigh (Atypical, Sharp Stick) who will play Chava Apfelbaum, a top Nazi hunter; and Emily Rudd (Moonshot, Fear Street: Part Two) and Tommy Martinez (Good Trouble, Riverdale) in unknown roles.
The second season of Hunters will premiere on January 13 on Amazon Prime. Season one of the show is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
