Fans of David Weil’s (Invasion, Solos) historical crime show, Hunters, can now rejoice as Amazon Prime has just dropped a new trailer for the long-awaited second and final season of the hit conspiracy drama series. The series debuted back in February of 2020 and was renewed for a second season in August of that same year, marking a nearly three year wait for viewers hoping to see the conclusion of Amazon’s critically-acclaimed streaming program.
For those not in the know, Hunters tells the story of a group of intrepid bounty hunters in the late-1970’s led by philanthropist and Holocaust survivor Meyer Offerman, played by Al Pacino (the Godfather trilogy, The Irishman), who band together in order to defeat a legion of undercover Nazi agents conspiring to create the Fourth Reich. The show includes the acting talents of stars such as Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Bullet Train), Lena Olin (Enemies, A Love Story, Chocolat), Jerrika Hinton (Grey’s Anatomy, Here and Now), and newcomer Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful 8, Fast Times at Ridgemont High).
The recent trailer for Hunters showcases some of the basic plot elements which viewers can expect in the upcoming second season, such as an assassination plot against the aging Adolf Hitler, the emergence of a new member on Offerman’s team by the name of Chava Apfelbaum (Leigh), and the climactic final duel between the hunters and the burgeoning Nazi regime helmed by Eva Braun (Olin). A German rendition of Kelis’ Milkshake ironically sets the whimsical and action-packed tone which fans of Hunters have come to expect from the series.
The series comes from the mind of creator David Weil, as well as executive producers Jordan Peele (Get Out, Nope), Win Rosenfeld (BlacKkKlansman, Candyman), and Nelson McCormick (Daredevil, Lovecraft Country) to name just a few. More on the upcoming second season of Hunters can be found in the trailer featured below.
Hunters is set to premiere on January 13, 2023, exclusively on Amazon Prime.
