According to Deadline, Amazon Prime has just added Siobhan Murphy (Merry Happy Whatever, Murdoch Mysteries) to the cast of their upcoming espionage thriller series Cross as a recurring character. Murphy will side opposite Aldis Hodge (Black Adam, City on a Hill), who portrays the title character of Alex Cross.
As written by Deadline, Murphy is set to play Tania Hightower, a determined and relentless journalist working as a news reporter for the Washington Post. Hightower is torn between her political intrigue and a genuine desire to help the less fortunate citizens of our nation’s capital. The series is based on the best-selling Alex Cross series by renowned mystery-thriller author James Patterson (Along Came a Spider, Run Rose Run).
The live-action adaptation follows the titular character of Alex Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist who excels in getting in to the minds of not only the killers he hunts, but also their victims as well. Cross is intelligent and courageous, but also haunted by the demons of his past, chiefly, the brutal murder of his beloved wife.
Murphy is only the latest in a crop of recent casting confirmations for Cross. Other such acting talents include the likes of Isaiah Mustafa (IT: Chapter Two, Shadowhunters), Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam, The Blacklist), Alona Tal (Hand of God, SEAL Team), Johnny Ray Gill (BrainDead, Opening Night), and Eloise Mumford (Just in Time for Christmas, The Presence of Love). More on the latest casting information for Cross can be found here and here.
Ben Watkins (Burn Notice, Wu-Tang: An American Saga) serves as showrunner for the series and also as an executive producer alongside Patterson, Hodge, Sam Ernst (Daredevil, Haven), Jim Dunn (Crisis, Haven), Craig Siebels (Blood and Treasure, The Gifted), and Dana Goldberg (I Am Legend, The Tomorrow War) to name just a few.
Currently, Amazon Prime has still yet to announce a release date for Cross.
