During a virtual Comic-Con@Home panel on Thursday afternoon, the trailer for Utopia was debuted via The Hollywood Reporter. The conspiracy thriller series surrounds a group of comic book nerds who inadvertently discover that their favorite graphic novel might be real.
The series stars Dan Byrd (Easy A) as Ian, Ashleigh LaThrop (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Becky, Jessica Rothe (La La Land) as Samantha, Desmin Borges (You’re the Worst) as Wilson Wilson, Javon “Wanna” Walton (Euphoria) as Grant and Sasha Lane (American Honey) as Jessica Hyde.
Showrunner Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) said via The Hollywood Reporter, “Even though I started this project almost 7 years ago now…it never feels more resonant than now. I wanted that paranoia to feel very real and to be able to access that through each different character. I would say each character has a different attitude toward this conspiracy, whether it is really a conspiracy at all, as we as we can often argue with our own relatives.”
Other characters include John Cusack (1408) as Dr. Kevin Christie, Rainn Wilson (The Office) as Dr. Michael Stearns, Farrah Mackenzie (Lucky Logan) as Alice, Christopher Denham (Argo) as Arby, and Cory Michael Smith (1985) as Thomas Christie. Watch the trailer for Utopia below:
