As reported by Deadline, Amazon Prime has just released a series of first look images for its upcoming global spy series from the Russo brothers (Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame), entitled Citadel. The latest images for the show starring Richard Madden (Eternals, Game of Thrones) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (The Matrix Resurrections, The White Tiger) features acclaimed British actress Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, Magpie Murders) as Dahlia Archer, the crafty and enterprising British Ambassador to the United States whose loyalties may lie elsewhere.
The new images for Citadel also showcase Stanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada, The Lovely Bones) as the gun-toting, no-nonsense character of Bernard Orlick. Tucci will purportedly appear as a series regular alongside Manville, Madden, and Chopra Jonas.
As Deadline writes, Citadel tells the story of the eponymous independent global spy agency which fell apart over eight years ago due to a shady and powerful syndicate known as Manticore. Following the Citadel’s defeat, elite agents Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas) were just barely able to escape with their lives, but in the process, had their memories wiped clean. Years have passed and the two former agents have built entirely new lives and identities, completely oblivious to their prior pasts as covert special agents. However, when Mason is eventually tracked down by his former Citadel associate, Bernard Orlick (Tucci), with a mission to prevent Manticore from taking over the planet and establishing world worder, the former agent must track down Nadia, his past partner and romantic interest, and embark on a dangerous mission to dismantle the corrupt organization once and for all.
Citadel comes from Amazon Studios and is executive produced by the Russo brothers, alongside Mike Larocca (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Captive Audience, Angela Russo-Ostot (The Gray Man, Cherry), Scott Nemes (Full Clip), as well as several other big time producers. David Weil (Hunters, Invasion) is set to serve as the series showrunner and will also executive produce the show.
The series will premiere on April 28 with the first episodes and will release a new episode weekly every Friday until May 26.
