Among the slew of recent TV series revivals, could Charmed be added to the mix?
It may be a little too early to get our hopes up, but on Saturday former Charmed actress Alyssa Milano who played Phoebe Halliwell teased fans on Twitter there may be a series reboot in the making. In a series of tweets, Milano is clear she is not promising anything, but she gives fans of the occult drama hope that it might be joining shows such as Fuller House and Gilmore Girls that are getting a second life.
Charmed aired on the WB (now CW) for 8 seasons beginning in 1998 and ending in 2006. The show followed the story of three sisters Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano) who discover they are witches (but of the good variety). The three sisters are the Charmed Ones, a term for very powerful good witches, and they use their power to protect the innocent from the dangers and evil of the supernatural world with their combined Power of Three. To prevent a plot hole after Prue dies at the end of the third season and disrupts the whole Power of Three thing, the remaining two sisters discover they have a long lost half-sister named Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan).
ET recently interviewed Milano, and when asked about the possibility of a Charmed reunion, she said, “We are all open for it! It seems like that’s going to happen any second.” She added, “I just feel like with all these reunions, and we still have such a cult following, that I feel like someone’s going to put that together at some point,” she said, “and we’re all totally on board for that!”
While a reunion seems more plausible, Milano seems very confident in her tweets that there will be a Charmed reboot. TV Line reports that in 2013 CBS ordered a script for a potential Charmed reboot that would have an entirely new cast. The attempt at a reboot didn’t pan out, and in 2014 TV Line pronounced the possibility dead.
But things can change, so maybe something new is in the works and Milano knows something about it.
