Within The Boys universe, death is a trivial matter rather than the final outcome, and Gen V season two almost played into that adage by bringing back a major season one fatality. According to Comicbook, the character in question that was about to be revived was Luke Riordan aka Golden Boy, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger (The White Lotus, The Terminal List).
According to Comicbook, viewers see Luke in the first episode of the first season, suffering a psychotic break and killing Professor Brink, played by Clancy Brown (SpongeBob SquarePants, Detroit Become Human). He then went on a full rampage and attacked students, including Marie, played by Jaz Sinclair (The Vampire Diaries, The Slender Man), and in the end, he commits suicide by flying into the air and then exploding.
The series creator, Erick Kripke (Supernatural, Timeless), goes on to speak in an interview with Comicbook‘s Bryan Cairns about the potential character return.“We did. We did. If I remember correctly, there were a couple of dream sequences. I forget who was having the dreams. Maybe Sam, but 100 percent it made its way to the outlines where Golden Boy was showing up. But Patrick… I think he was shooting some tiny show about a hotel. I don’t know. Some tiny indie thing. I don’t think anyone saw it. Obviously, he was doing White Lotus and was super-busy with that and the press. I don’t think we could work out the schedules, if I remember correctly.”
Furthermore, Kripke goes into details with Comicbook that he is still on board with working with the actor.
“He’s checked in with us and has been nothing but lovely. I would work with him again in a heartbeat. He is such a good, nice, genuine guy.” If Luke does return, then the entire plot of Gen V could take an unexpected path and lead to future engagements with the main characters.
While waiting for the second season finale, which airs today, all current episodes and seasons of Gen V are available to stream on Prime Video.
