The Kim Kardashian (Ocean’s Eight, Disaster Movie)-starring legal drama All’s Fair has been renewed by Hulu for second season, Deadline reports. The move comes far ahead of the series’ season one finale in a sign that the streamer is confident that it can retain viewers despite the series lackluster critical reception.

After performing abysmally with TV critics and even being called “the worst TV show of the year” by USA Today’s Kelly Lawler, the series has managed to captivate viewers despite 3% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, according to Deadline. It became Hulu’s biggest original scripted series premiere in three years, bringing in 3.2 million global views in its first three days on the platform.

According to Deadline, the show’s stars have not shied away from the criticism, with Kardashian herself writing jokingly on Instagram, “Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?”

In spite of the odds, All‘s Fair clinched a spot on Luminate’s Top 15 TV Shows during the week of its premiere with 2.61 million hours watched from October 31 to November 6, per Deadline. In the next week, the show’s fourth episode brought in even more engagement, allowing it to reach higher into the number 13 spot with 3.85 million hours watched and 1.33 million views.

Created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, The Prom), All’s Fair follows Kardashian’s Allura Grant, who sets up female divorce attorney firm with Naomi Watts’ (King Kong, Mulholland Drive) Liberty Ronson, Niecy Nash-Betts’ (Claws, Guess Who) Emerald Greene, and Teyana Taylor’s (One Battle After Another, Straw) Milan after leaving a male-dominated firm with the support of Glenn Close’s (Tehran, Fatal Attraction) Dina Standish, according to an official synopsis provided by Deadline. The group navigates high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets and shifting allegiances — both in the courtroom and within their own ranks — as well as a fierce rivalry with Sarah Paulson’s (Run, 12 Years a Slave) Carrington Lane.

Kardashian said the series renewed her confidence, telling Deadline “I never felt like I had to be stuck in this box that I couldn’t do what I wanted to do, or at least try.” She added, “There’s no age limit. There’s no barriers. Anything you want to do, try. What’s the worst that can happen? Just go for it. Just start. Just do it.”

The show is produced by 20th Television with Ryan Murphy Television. Kardashian executive produces alongside Murphy and Kris Jenner (The Mindy Project, Love Advent), Jon Robin Baitz (Feud, One Fine Day), Joe Baken (Doctor Odyssey, Grotesquerie), Eric Kovtun (The Watcher, Ratched), and Scott Robertson (The Revenant, The Andy Worhol Diaries).

All’s Fair releases weekly on Tuesdays on Hulu. The two-episode finale of season one will air on December 9.
