According to a press release by Disney Media Relations, the long running cartoon The Simpsons will be airing an exclusive episode on Disney+. The 35 season show has been a TV staple in many homes and people, and has made its mark with its silly humor and family antics. According to an article from Thewrap.com this will be the third exclusive episode that Disney+ has released. The last one being on December 29, 2024 titled “Bottle Episode”.
The new episode titled ” The Past and the Furious” is apparently “three of four 36 season episodes” says Thewrap.com. Fans and audiences were not expecting to see these new episodes until March 30 premiere on Fox but for all Disney+ users, they will be able to have access to the new episode as well as all of the episodes that were released in 2024.
The official synopsis is as follows: “In this exclusive full-length episode of The Simpsons, Lisa travels back in time to 1923 and discovers that the Springfield Mini Moose, once key to the town’s ecosystem, were driven to extinction in 1925. Teaming up with young Monty Burns, Lisa works to save the moose, but her actions unintentionally shape his future as a ruthless tycoon.” According to Thewrap.com the shows distribution strategy has been a very big change and has marked a milestone for The Simpsons. The show has always been aired on Fox since 1989. The article goes on to say that the exclusive episodes on Disney+ were announced at the D23 conventions.
Thewrap.com says that the remaining four episodes were ordered by Disney+ after Fox ordered 18 episodes, which is why fans and audiences can see those on the Disney+ platform. A similar thing was also done with the show South Park which is owned by Paramount. Episodes are separated; some released on Paramount and some are Paramount+ specials.
Let’s see how Lisa is able to ” unintentionally shape” young Mr. Burns future. The episode will be available on Disney+ February 12, 2025.
