After nearly 11 years off the air, the domination-bent alien Zim and his defective robot sidekick GIR of Invader Zim are back on Nickelodeon in a new animated television movie. The movie has obtained the original voice actors for Zim, GIR, and their nemesis Dib. Nick has put out several teaser trailers, all of which involve a voice over from Zim about his evil diabolical self, and his plans to dominate Earth and enslave the human race. Of course he has attempted this before in the single season animated television show, but has failed to please his home planet’s leaders The Almighty Tallest.
Nickelodeon has released 3 teasers in total over the last five days. The first trailer is a completely NOT funny announcement from Zim which is interrupted by lovable GIR: he has been watching us all this time and will return “soon-ish” to conquer the human race.
The second trailer displays some truly terrifying evil laughter by Zim… and GIR… sort of.
The third trailer was released yesterday, Saturday April 8, and features the audio of Zim struggling with his ever unhelpful computer to come up with some spooky sound effects.
We await the announcement of the premiere date with bated breath both for Invader Zim and for other classic cartoon-turned-movie projects like the one hour special which will return funky 90s cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life to the air. Meanwhile, Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie will premiere November 23, 2017.
