Deadline has reported that the entire Grey’s Anatomy library will be available to stream on the new Hulu and Disney+ app, which is launching in March 2024. Those subscribed to the Hulu and Disney+ bundle will be able to stream the series on the streaming app with a beta version of the app that was released on Wednesday. The domestic streaming rights to the series will be split with Netflix and Hulu.
Grey’s Anatomy is the longest-running primetime medical drama series, according to Deadline. The series has completed 19 seasons, with the 20th season premiering on March 14, 2024 on ABC. The series has been in the top three of the Nielsen streaming charts over the past two months, receiving over 1 billion minutes viewed two times.
Netflix and Disney Entertainment are currently finalizing a non-exclusive 18-month domestic content agreement. Disney will be licensing 14 popular TV series from their library to Netflix. Along with Grey’s Anatomy, the deal includes licensing the Wonder Years reboot, My Wife and Kids, Lost, Home Improvement, Reba, This Is Us, ESPN 30 for 30, How I Met Your Mother, The Resident, Prison Break, The Bernie Mac Show, and Archer. Grey’s Anatomy will remain available on current platforms along with linear networks, third-party, AVOD, and SVOD platforms over the 18 months.
Disney+ and Hulu intend to combine into one streaming app during the first quarter of 2024. At Disney’s Q4 investor call in November, CEO Bob Iger suggested that the company was in talks with Netflix regarding content licensing opportunities, according to Deadline. Iger stated that the company is planning to release the one-app Disney+ experience by March of 2024, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Grey’s Anatomy premiered on March 27, 2005 on ABC.
