The CW’s upcoming DC drama series, Gotham Knights, has casted Anna Lore (All American) as Stephanie Brown, one of the show’s recurring characters, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show already features a cast that includes Oscar Morgan (Death In Paradise), Olivia Rose Keegan (High School Musical: The Musical – The Series), Navia Robinson (Being Mary Jane), Fallon Smythe (Grown-ish), Tyler DiChiara (The Virgin Of Highland Park), and Misha Collins (Girl, Uninterrupted).
Based on DC characters created by Bob Kane (Batman Returns) and Bill Finger (Batman), Gotham Knights is set in a Gotham City and takes place after the murder of Bruce Wayne. Wayne’s adopted son, played by Morgan, teams up with the children of Batman’s enemies, who are all being framed for killing Wayne.
The character of Stephanie Brown is being described as someone whose sarcasm is matched only by her intellect and was raised on a steady diet of brain teasers and puzzles and honed her skills to become a formidable coder, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The character has taken on several alter egos in DC comics, notably as the daughter of Cluemaster, a villain in the DC universe. Other versions of Stephanie Brown have appeared in a season two episode of The CW’s Batwoman, played by Morgan Kohan, and in the animated series Young Justice, voiced by Mae Whitman.
Gotham Knights is created by Chad Fiveash (Switched At Birth), James Stoteraux (Gotham) and Natalie Abrams (Batwoman). The series is not a spinoff of Batwoman and is not related to an upcoming Warner Bros. Games release of the same name. Fiveash and Stoteraux executive produce the Warner Bros. TV project with Greg Berlanti (The Flash), Sarah Schechter (Free Guy) and David Madden (Save The Last Dance) of Berlanti Productions along with Abrams. Danny Cannon (Judge Dredd) will direct and executive produce the pilot.
