According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alan Cumming (Spy Kids, X2) is the new Best Reality TV Host for winning an Emmy at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy, putting an end to RuPaul’s (But I’m A Cheerleader, Trolls Band Together) winning streak of eight years. Cumming received his first Emmy because of his role in hosting The Traitors, which is released on Peacock.
Cumming was not present at the ceremony but during a previous The Hollywood Reporter interview, he informed them that he views his hosting role as any other role he plays for scripted television.
“I feel like it’s a huge acting job,” said Cumming via The Hollywood Reporter Q&A. “I think about it as a character. Obviously it’s me — his name’s Alan Cumming — but obviously it’s not really me. I don’t really sound like that. I don’t dress like that. I don’t have a castle. Alas, that’s too bad.”
Additionally, Cumming revealed the secret of the show’s success in a THR interview. “We all lie, but we forget to see when people are lying or have to lie [to us]. It’s a sociological thing. We’re a secret camera, getting to watch people do stuff we never normally get to [see].”

Creator, host and executive producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul won multiple Emmys for the best host category from 2016-2023. He has a total of fourteen Emmys and twenty-five nominations, making him the most-awarded Black artist.
