According to a press release by Apple TV, the premiere for the fourth season of its worldwide hit series Ted Lasso will debut on its streaming platform on August 5th. Returning to executive produce and star in the Emmy Award-winning show is none other than Jason Sudakis (We’re the Millers, Saturday Night Live), the titular character, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday until the beginning of October.
Apple TV has also confirmed the return of many fan favorites from Hanna Waddingham (Game of Thrones, The Fall Guy), who portrays the character Rebecca Welton, as well as Brett Goldstein (Shrinking, Thor: Love and Thunder), who is known on set as Roy Kent. Other previous cast members confirmed to be returning are Juno Temple (Fargo, The Dark Knight Rises), who performs the role of Keeley Jones, Brendan Hunt (Horrible Bosses 2, Fallout 4) in the role of Coach Beard, and Jeremy Swift (Downton Abbey, Mary Poppins Returns) playing Leslie Higgins.
Many fans assumed the show would not be returning as the season three finale saw Lasso returning to Kansas, or so it seemed. As it turns out, the producers had something else in mind for Lasso as he will now be returning to Richmond. The kicker, he will not be there to coach the men this time. Season four is set to see the coach lead a second-division women’s football team, with the season’s logline revealing it will be his biggest challenge yet.
As fans can imagine, a new team with a new gender will mean some new additions to the cast. Apple TV has also confirmed that new additions will include Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education, Timestalker), Faye Marsay (Andor, Adolescence), Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion, Heirs of the Night), and Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane, Inola Holmes 2).
