Ahead of its season five premiere, the Adult Swim animated original series Rick and Morty unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming season, according to CBR.com. The trailer, set to the tune of the 1994 hit “Sabotage” by Beastie Boys, demonstrates some clips that fans can look forward to from the Dan Harmon (Community) and Justin Roiland (Solar Opposites) hit comedy series. Season five will witness the return of the Sanchez and Smith family and their intergalactic exploits combined with pop-culture parody.
Rick and Morty center on the adventures of the extremely intelligent, abrasive, and cynical scientist Rick Sanchez and his innocent, teenage grandson Morty Smith. In addition to the classic titular duo, other episodes engage with the remaining aspects of the complex family dynamic with Rick’s daughter Beth, son-in-law Jerry, and granddaughter Summer. The series’ voice cast will return again with Roiland voicing both Rick and Morty in addition to Spencer Grammer (Greek) voicing Summer, Sarah Chalke (Scrubs) as Beth, and Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live) as Jerry. The release of the trailer coincides with the announcement that the successful animated series will have a spinoff series featuring characters such as season three characters, The Vindicators.
Rick and Morty is preparing for a Sunday, June 20 premiere at 11 PM EST on the Cartoon Network nighttime channel, Adult Swim. Check out the trailer below:
