

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adult Swim has renewed the adult animated thriller Common Side Effects for a second season. Common Side Effects is executive produced by Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head, Office Space) and Greg Daniels (King of the Hill, The Office) and created by Joe Bennett (Good Guys Wear Black) and Steve Hely (30 Rock). The series is described as follows: “Marshall and Frances, two former high school lab partners who share a secret: Marshall has discovered the world’s greatest medicine, a mushroom that can heal almost anything. But getting it out into the world won’t be easy – the DEA, big pharma, and international businessmen are all on the chase to stop them.”
The cast of the series includes Judge as Rick, Joseph Lee Anderson (Young Rock, MacGruber) as Agent Copano, Martha Kelly (Marriage Story, Corporate Animals) as Agent Harrington, Dave King (Parks and Recreation, The Good Place) as Marshall Cuso and Emily Pendergast (Veep, The Conners) as Frances.
Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen (Bird Girl) said in a statement on Friday, “Joe and Steve did their job by crafting a boundary-pushing and genre-defining piece of television that re-frames what ‘adult animation’ is capable of And you all did your job by showing up on Adult Swim and Max to support the show and lighting up your socials to spread the word.
