Adult Swim Announces The Premiere Date For The Second Season Of ‘Smiling Friends’

According to Comicbook, Adult Swim has released the official release date for their animated series Smiling Friends. After releasing their April Fool’s Day episode titled, “Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4k (Anniversary Director’s Cut),” the series revealed that fans can expect new season soon. The new season of Smiling Friends is scheduled to premiere on Adult Swim on May 12th at midnight, and then it will be available to stream on Max the next day.

According to Comicbook, the new April Fools Day episode was a gift to many fans of the series who viewed all the puppet episodes. The series also remade some of its previous episodes but this time in puppet form. The new puppet versions are titled “Charlie Dies and Doesn’t Come Back,“ “Shrimp’s Odyssey,” and “Mr. Frog.” The three new puppet version episodes can be viewed on Adult Swim’s YouTube. 

Created by Zach Hadel (Schmucks Podcast, JonTron) and Micheal Cusack (Koala Man, YOLO: Silver Destiny), Smiling Friends follows the adventures of employees of a small company dedicated to bringing happiness to a weird colorful world. The series is filled with many different characters that are interesting in their unique ways. The employees get hired by clients, and the job is completed when the client is happy and smiles.  

Cast for the series include Hadel as Charlie Dompler and Glep, Cusack as Pim Pimling and Alan, Marc Menchaca (Royal Crackers, Uncle Grandpa) as Mr. Boss, Joshua Tomar (League of Legends, One Punch Man) as Mr. Frog, Centaur, and Narrator,  Mick Lauer (RWBY, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) as Elf, Crazy Cup, and Bug,  and Erica Lindbeck (Rick and Morty, ThunderCats Roar)  as Assistant, the Princess, Mustard, and Barista. 

According to Comicbook, Adult Swim teases what is to come in the instalment of the series, “In season two of  Smiling Friends, Pim, Charlie, Zongo, Allan and Glep continue their mission to bring happiness to the world, whether it’s a washed-up retro video game character, a troubled marriage, or even the president of the United States.”

Season one and the new April Fool’s day episode are available to stream on Max.
