According to Deadline, Leila George is the latest to join Netflix’s series All The Sinners Bleed. The limited series is based on S. A. Cosby’s (King of Ashes, Razorblade Tears) novel, a southern noir crime drama that was not only on the New York Times bestseller list but also on Barack Obama’s summer reading list.
The novel follows Titus Crown, the first African American sheriff of Charon County, Virginia. Titus’ investigation involves him leading a hunt for a serial killer who is hidden in the town. Crown’s search for the killer is haunted by the untimely death of his devout mother. According to Deadline, showrunner, writer, and executive producer Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther, American Crime Story) will direct the first and other episodes of the show. The show will be produced by Higher Ground Productions.
According to Deadline, the cast of show includes Șopé Dìrísù (Black Rabbit, His Dark Materials) as Sheriff Titus Crown, Nicole Beharie as Darlene, Titus’s girlfriend, George (Mortal Engines, Animal Kingdom) as Marlow Stoner, Murray Bartlett (The Last of Us, The White Lotus) playing Scott Cunningham, Daniel Ezra (All American, The Running Man) as Marquis Crown, and Andrea Cortéz (Mayans M.C., Bosch Legacy) playing Deputy Carla Ortiz.
According to Tudum by Netflix, Cortéz mentioned that she is an avid reader of crime and mystery novels, and “is super excited to be a part of All The Sinners Bleed.”
“As an artist, I am looking forward to exploring the various themes the novel touches on and working with this lovely creative team to take those themes from the paper to the screen,” Cortéz told Tudum. “My callback with Joe Robert Cole was exhilarating, and I feel lucky to be working with someone who I believe will feel as passionate as I do about bringing the character of Carla Ortiz to life.”
George was last seen in the Apple series Disclaimer and is currently filming Road House 2. There have been no trailers for the series. We’ll have to keep an eye out for when Netflix drops the first teaser.
