Actress Hailee Steinfield known for Pitch Perfect and the new AppleTV+ series, Dickenson, shut down rumors yesterday about being casted in a leading role in one of Marvel’s new series, Hawkeye.
Hailee Steinfield (Romeo and Juliet) brought an end to the rumors during an interview for Radio Times about her career and any information pertaining to being casted as Kate Bishop. On more than one occasion, has the actress been asked by media outlets about the role and all have come to the same concord that the actress seemed to not have known about being casted or even considered for the role in the series, saying in part, “That, I don’t know about! I don’t know. I have no idea what you’re talking about.” (TVGuide)
Information to the casting of her role was never confirmed by Marvel. However, rumors about Steinfield’s casting initially began sometime in September of this year. Although Steinfield did not deny the idea of potentially being on the show rather to say that if she did accept the role in the MCU series that her current show Dickenson has helped her become more prepared and comfortable with the transition from big to small screen experience.
The series has an expected release date, sometime in the fall of 2021 on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. Although there is no concrete summary for the show thus far, many people speculate that the show will follow its comic book counterpart that describes Kate Bishop as taking on the role of Hawkeye as a member of Young Avengers comic book series. Jonathan Igla is set to write (with writing credits including Mad Men and most recently Facebook’s Sorry for Your Loss with MCU’s own Elizabeth Olsen) and executive produce the series which is expected to be approximately 6 to 8 episodes to make up an overall season.
