Ghosts was developed by Joe Port (New Girl, The Crazy Ones) and Joe Wiseman (New Girl, The Crazy Ones) and debuted on CBS in October 2021. In September 2022, the second season premiered, and the series was renewed for third season. According to Deadline, production for the third season was paused due to the strikes. Now that the strikes have come to an end, actress Danielle Pinnock (Tell It Like a Woman, Candy Cane Lane), who plays one of the ghosts named Alberta Haynes in the series, has revealed that production for Ghosts season three will resume on Saturday, December 2nd.
During the premiere of her new movie Candy Cane Lane, Pinnock announced this news to Deadline. She stated, “We start shooting on Saturday. I fly down to Montreal. We’re going back, baby!”
She continued to tease the third season, explaining, “We did a table read — those scripts are good!”
Pinnock also revealed that she anticipates there being fewer episodes this season compared to the previous seasons, stating, “Sheila Carrasco is having a baby, and so we cut the season short because of that and the strikes.” Sheila Carrasco (The Donor Party, Leo) plays a ghost named Flower in the series. Despite the fewer episodes, Pinnock explained, “those episodes are fierce and the audiences should prepare themselves.”
In addition, Pinnock revealed, “This season, Alberta’s going to be in her shenanigans, and you also get to see more of me and Hetty.” Hetty Woodstone, played by Rebecca Wisocky (Funny Money, Devious Maids), is also a ghost and an ancestor of one of the main characters Samantha.
Ghosts is based on the British sitcom of the same name, which began in 2019. The series revolves around Samantha Arondekar, played by Rose McIver (iZombie, A Christmas Prince), and Jay Arondekar, played by Utkarsh Ambudkar (Basmati Blues, Free Guy). The couple moves into a new home, which ends up being overrun by ghosts that only Samantha can see and hear.
The third season of Ghosts is set to premiere on February 15, 2024, on CBS.
