Barbara Rush (Batman, Love Boat), the actress most notably known for her roles in the ABC primetime soap operas All My Children and Peyton Place, has passed away. According to TVLine, Rush passed away yesterday evening at the age of 97.
Rush’s daughter, Fox News senior correspondent Claudia Cowan (Lovelines, Fox Report with Jon Scott), announced and verified her passing in a statement given to Fox News Digital last night.
As per TVLine, Cowan stated, “My wonderful mother passed away peacefully at 5:28 this evening. I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition. It’s fitting she chose to leave on Easter as it was one of her favorite holidays and now, of course, Easter will have a deeper significance for me and my family.”
Rush was a series regular on Peyton Place during its fifth and last season, which concluded on June 2, 1969. She portrayed Marsha Russell, a woman who fell in love with Michael Rossi, played by Ed Nelson (The Boneyard, Riding with Death). In 1992, she went on to portray Nola Orsini in All My Children, starring in 35 total episodes until 1994.
TVLine notes that Rush’s other TV credits include guest-starring on numerous shows, such as the drama series 7th Heaven for ten episodes, where she portrayed Eric’s mother, Grandma Ruth Camden. Rush also appeared in Love Boat, Magnum P.I., Murder, She Wrote, Fantasy Island, The Fugitive, Batman, The Outer Limits, and Maude, to name a few.
Rush was also a fan-favorite among sci-fi film fans during the 1950s, such as with her work in It Came From Outer Space and When Worlds Collide. TVLine also notes that in 1954, she even won a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year in the Actress category for her work in It Came From Outer Space.
