Actor Jack Blessing Dies at 66

Jack Blessing, an actor who has appeared on The Naked TruthMoonlighting, and George Lopez, has died at 66. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Blessing died after battling pancreatic cancer.

Blessing portrayed Mr. Donner in the 1995-98 ABC-NBC sitcom The Naked Truth. Most recently, the Baltimore native was seen as Jack Powers in the 2002-07 sitcom George Lopez. He also starred as MacGillicuddy in the third season of the drama series Moonlighting in 1986. In the 1983 comedy Small & Frye, Blessing starred as Chip Frye.

Blessing also voiced characters in several animated films including Antz (1998), Open Season (2006), Bee Movie (2007), Megamind (2010), ParaNorman (2012), and Planes (2013). He also appeared in films including Heaven’s Gate (1980), Galaxy of Terror (1981), Thirteen Days (2000), and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006).

His work in television includes M*A*S*Hthirtysomething, Family TiesThe Golden GirlsNorthern ExposureStar Trek: Deep Space NineTouched by an AngelMike & MollyThe X-Files, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Blessing also portrayed Det. Seybolt in the 1997 miniseries Murder One: Diary of a Serial Killer and played a cop in another series, Brooklyn South.

Blessing is survived by his son Ian, his wife of 32 years, Lora Staley Blessing  – who is an actress who appeared in the film Risky Business and also an episode of Moonlighting – and son Christopher. Blessing’s son Ian paid tribute to his father’s death on Facebook.
