According to a press release, Acorn TV has revealed the official trailer for their new art world-centered crime drama, Art Detectives. The series will premiere with two episodes on June 9, 2025.
The six-episode series is executive-produced by and stars Stephen Moyer (True Blood, The Double Brutus) and follows the escapades of a special police unit called the Heritage Crime Unit, whose main objective is to solve murders connected to the art and antique world.
Moyer plays DI Mick Palmer, an art lover who works alongside DC Shazia Malik, a straight-shooter played by Nina Singh (The Lazarus Project, The Ex-Wife). Each episode follows Mick and Shazia as they investigate cases ranging from Viking gold to items taken from the Titanic, all while dealing with the unique quirks of an art world fueled by greed and revenge.
Sarah Alexander (Stardust, Green Wing) plays a museum curator who strikes up a budding romance with Mick, and Larry Lamb (EastEnders, Gavin & Stacey) takes on the role of Mick’s enigmatic father, an infamous forger.
The series is set to premiere at SeriesFest: Season 11 in Denver, Colorado, on May 3, 2025. Following a screening of the first episode at the Sie FilmCenter at 4:15 PM MT, Moyer and executive producer Paul Powell (Zapped, Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask) will engage in a discussion hosted by Emily Vogel from The Wrap.
