ABC has canceled rookie dramas Queens and Promised Land, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Both series were canceled following their debut seasons.
Promised Land followed two Latinx families feuding over wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley. The series, which starred John Ortiz (The Fallout), Christina Ochoa (Blood Drive) and Bellamy Young (Scandal), accumulated less than 3 million viewers in its first five episodes after being initially ordered in early 2021.
Meanwhile, the music drama Queens was put in development in early 2021 and centered around four forty-something women who reunite in an attempt to reignite their fame previously captured in their 1990s musical group. With both series now canceled, the network has yet to make decisions on veteran series A Million Little Things, Big Sky, The Conners and Home Economics.
Both of ABC’s newer series, Abbott Elementary and The Wonder Years are expected to return, while The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie and Station 19 are also slated to return.
