Jonnie Davis, longtime president of ABC Signature, has just taken leave of his position after a long-running career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio that created hit series like Grey’s Anatomy was informed of Davis’ leave in a memo that was addressed to the staff and released on Friday.
Eric Schrier, the new Disney Television Studios president, thanked Davis for all the work he has done in his career for the studio on a personal note. The message reads, “I wanted to share that I have made the decision to step down from my role as president of ABC Signature. It has been a privilege to work alongside all of you to deliver some of the most acclaimed and celebrated shows, like ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, FX’s Fleishman is in Trouble, and Hulu’s This Fool, to name just a few, that captivate, inspire and reflect the audiences that we so proudly serve every day.”
The message continues, saying, “I’m forever grateful to Dana Walden and Eric Schrier for the wonderful opportunity to lead this world-class studio. And while I will, of course, miss this outstanding team, after doing this job for over 20 years, I’m looking forward to figuring out my next creative challenge.”
According to sources, Disney does not plan to combine its wide selection of studios, which include FX Productions, Onyx Collective, and 20th Television, along with a long array of other studios under its belt. Davis was added as president of ABC Signature in July 2019. His works and contributions under this role are accredited to Godfather of Harlem, Little Fires Everywhere, A Small Light, The Muppets Mayhem, and Tiny Beautiful Things. He also took on immense talents, such as Yara Shahidi (black-ish), Drew Goddard (Bad Times at the El Royale), and Alec Berg (The Cat in the Hat), with deals at ABC Signature.
