According to Deadline, ABC has cancelled comedy series Home Economics. The series comes from John Aboud (Close Enough, Penguins of Madagascar) and Michael Colton (Acapulco, Close Enough). It premiered on ABC on April 7, 2021 and aired the finale to its third and final season on January 18, 2023.
Home Economics starred Topher Grace (That 70s Show, Spider-Man 3) as Tom, Caitlin McGee (Bluff City Law, Modern Love) as Sarah, Jimmy Tatro (The Real Bros of Simi Valley, Life According to Jimmy) as Connor, Karla Souza (Don’t Blame the Kid, How to Get Away with Murder) as Marina, and Sasheer Zamata (Spree, The Weekend) as Denise.
The cast also features Chloe Jo Rountree (I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, Cut!) as Camila, JeCobi Swain (Duck & Goose, My Dad the Bounty Hunter) as Kelvin, Jordyn Curet (9-1-1, Big City Greens) as Shamiah, Shiloh Bearman (Home Economics, The Republic of Sarah) as Gretchen, Lidia Porto (Get Shorty, Pray for Rain) as Lupe, Nora Dunn (Max Keeble’s Big Movie, What’s the Worst That Could Happen?) as Muriel, and Phil Reeves (13 Going on 30, Guess Who) as Marshall.
Dean Holland directed the pilot as well as multiple episodes. Holland executive produces with Colton, Aboud, Grace, Eric Tannenbaum (You Again, Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas), Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men, The Last O.G.), Jason Wang (Young & Hungry, The Last O.G.), Julieanne Smolinski (Grace and frankie, United We Fall), and Tucker Cawley (Everybody Loves Raymond, Men of a Certain Age). The series is produced by ABC Signature and Lionsgate.
Home Economics follows the heartwarming yet uncomfortable relationships between three siblings in really different situations. One sibling is just scraping by, one is middle class, and one is very wealthy. The series is inspire by the real-life experiences of Colton.
ABC has also moved the new drama High Potential to fall 2024.
