For 15 seasons, Supernatural, which follows the journey of Winchester brother, Dean, played by Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Countdown) and Sam, played by Jared Padalecki (Fire Country, Walker), who hunt monsters in secret. According to Screenrant, the series has garnered a vast viewership from it beginning in 2005 to the final episode in 2020. It was revealed that a storyline idea for the popular drama series had been cut, which would have altered the entire plot.
Supernatural’s showrunner, Andrew Dabb (Resident Evil, Grendel) in an interview with Screenrant goes into detail on what the storyline entailed,”One storyline we always talked about, which we never did was basically Sam and Dean go public. They’re like, “Look, we’re putting out a PSA. Monsters are real. If you see something, something shows up in your town, it’s a monster. We can’t be everywhere. We’re just going to get the word out there.”
Andrew further states to Screenrant on why on the storyline wouldn’t fit,” It would’ve kind of blown up the show in a very odd way. But that was always something I was like, ‘They probably should do that, you know what I mean? Just share some information, share it around.’ But again, a little logistically difficult for the show.
Dabb finishes up his statement with Screenrant,”Suddenly, Sam and Dean are known worldwide, which, again, I think sounds interesting in theory, but I actually think would’ve destroyed the show. It would not have been any good, which is one of the reasons we didn’t do it.”
Reported by Screenrant, many fans believed that if this storyline was introduced, it would ruin the entire premise and atmosphere that the show has created. Nonetheless, this does not diminish Supernatural’s impressive journey, which has earned it a remarkable score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
All seasons of Supernatural are available to stream on Netflix.
