With the fifth and final season of the highly acclaimed Prime Video series The Boys in production, series star Anthony Starr (G20, Cobweb) is giving a heartfelt goodbye to his character. According to Comicbook, Starr has played the series’ main antagonist, Homelander, since 2019 and has been a formidable opponent to the titular vigilante group. Homelander also made a brief cameo in the spin-off series Gen V. In a recent social media post, Starr shared a behind-the-scenes image, which shows him in bloody makeup with the captain,”Been waiting a little to let things settle and try and process the end of this show.”

According to Comicbook, the last time we saw Homelander was at the end of the fourth season finale, in which he became part of the government, demanded martial law, and dispatched forces to handle the enemy.
According to Comicbook, Starr went on to discuss how he feels about his journey coming to an end,”Difficult (for me) to put into words what an incredible ride this has been. How much life and growth has occurred. How amazing the team is. It’s truly been the highlight of my career. When we began, I had no idea what was coming. This juggernaut left the station and never stopped. Except for that Covid moment. Oh and the strikes. That was a thing too. But apart from those two times, it never stopped, boldly making its mark on the television landscape. There’s nothing else like it. It lives in its own lane.”
While fans eagerly await more information about the release date for the final season of The Boys, previous seasons are available for streaming on Prime Video. Whether the final season culminates in Homelander’s downfall through a heroic sacrifice or at the hands of Butcher, played by Karl Urban (Star Trek, Mortal Kombat II), along with the Boys, it promises to be a thrilling journey that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
