

The popular Prime Video superhero series, The Boys, is celebrating the announcement of the cast for its upcoming prequel series. According to Comicbook, the highly anticipated prequel, titled Vought Rising, is progressing quickly with a major casting update that aims to expand the universe in exciting new ways. The series is set in the 1950s and will explore the creation of Vought and the origins of Compound V.
According to Comicbook, it was announced that Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Countdown) will return to reprise his role as Soldier Boy, as well as Aya Cash (The Franchise, Begin Again) as Stormfront. The additional members that will be joining Ackles and Cash within the series are Jorden Myrie (Bridgerton, Screw), Nicolò Pasetti (Industry, The Tasters), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear, Chicago P.D.), Brian J. Smith (Sense8, Treadstone), Will Hochman (Atrabilious, Master) and Elizabeth Posey (Dreamcatcher, Gully). Though their specific roles are being kept under wraps, their addition signals a rich, ensemble-driven narrative.
According to Comicbook, the team behind the production of the series will include showrunner Paul Grellong (Scorpion, Revolution) alongside creator Eric Kripke (Timeless, Supernatural).
According to Comicbook, even with the original series ending, Prime Video has kept the popularity of the franchise with other projects such as the animated series, The Boys: Diabolical and the college-set, Gen V which is in production for its second season. An additional spin-off is also in development, and will be named The Boys: Mexico, which could follow the same plot and theme within the main series about corrupt superheroes.
According to mxdwn, the final season will have a supernatural reunion with Ackles, Jared Padelcki (Walker, Fire Country), and Misha Collins (Gotham Knights, Charmed), whose roles have not been announced. While fans await on further news on Vought Rising, all seasons of The Boys and Gen V are available to stream on Prime Video.
