“It was really about Charlie and I, and a couple of the producers, wanting to make a kick-ass Daredevil show,” D’Onofrio explains in the clip. “And then we realized eventually that the writers that we were working with didn’t have that in mind. And, we as a group of creatives had meetings with the bosses, and because those guys are creatives, they joined us in this endeavor to turn things around.”
D’Onofrio explained how Kevin Feige (Marvel’s Avengers, Avengers: Endgame) and Louis D’Esposito (Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, Black Widow) backed them “100% creatively” allowing them complete freedom.
“They never have once told us to back off. Ever. They just keep saying, ‘Make it better. Make it better,'” D’Onofrio added. He described the team having to “Frankenstein” what they had to make season one what it became. They then were able to proceed with a new story from scratch for season two.
The cast consists of Charlie Cox (Merv, Adults), Hamish Allan-Headley (Chicago P.D., Mayor of Kingstown), D’Onofrio, Arty Froushan (Downtown Abbey: The Grand Finale, H is for Hawk), Michael Gandolfini (Helg, Warfare), Zabryna Guevara (The Hunting Party, Sheriff Country), Genneya Walton (Dead Sea, Candy Cane Lane), Nikki M.
