Dads, this Father’s Day weekend may feel a bit more hollow than usual. After becoming a Father’s Day staple with three straight premieres on the June holiday weekend, Yellowstone will not be able to continue the trend for their fourth season.
Via Esquire, the first Paramount TV Original has understandably fallen behind their usual schedule. After greenlighting the fourth season in February 2020 before the third season had even premiered, the pandemic went into full effect. With the uncertainty of filming in Hollywood continuing throughout the airing of the third season and into 2021, the show fell behind their schedule used for the first three seasons.
So if not Father’s Day, when? Some hints have been dropped by the crew which could lead to some answers. Via NBC Montana, a call was put out on May 26th for extras for a scene in the show. The recent date suggests a later date for a return of the hit Western. On the other hand, Chief Joseph Ranch, the main filming location for the show, announced on Instagram that filming had wrapped at the location for season four. This could signify that the release date might be closer than expected.

There is also the news of the two spinoffs of Yellowstone, Y:1883 and 6666. These two projects will definitely divert attention from the main show as they attempt to get off the ground.
After the jaw-dropping finale of season three, fans are waiting on the edge of their seats to see where the show is headed next. Kevin Costner’s (Draft Day) John Dutton along with his daughter, Beth played by Kelly Reilly (True Detective), and son, Kayce played by Luke Grimes (American Sniper), were all left in a precarious position when the finale ended.
Fans need answers about their favorite characters, but first they’ll need answers on the premiere date. With no trailer or announcement from the show, it seems they will have to wait a bit longer. After the quality of the first three installments of Yellowstone, though, it seems the wait will be worth it.
