‘3 Body Problem’ Release Date Pushed Back

ccording to Deadline, the Netflix show 3 Body Problem will be launched on March 21st 2024. This announcement comes nearly four years after the series was first revealed. This is also a change from the previous release date that was announced when the trailer was released last June, which was January 2024. 

The show, says Deadline, is based on a sci-fi book trilogy which is written by the Chinese author Liu Cixin. The series will be directed by Derek Tsang (Better Days), who has been Oscar nominated. Showrunners include both David Benioff (Game of Thrones) and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones). The two co-created the show with Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy), who serves as an executive producer and a writer for the program. Other executive producers include Bernadette Caulfield (The X-Files), Rian Johnson (Knives Out), Ram Bergman (Brick), Nena Rodrigue (MEDS), Lin Qi (Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming), Zhao Jilong (Some of Our Stallions) and Brad Pitt (Fight Club)

According to Deadline, the show is about the story of humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization. It follows a young woman, whose fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unflinching detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”

Deadline also revealed the roundup of actors for the show include Jovan Adepo (Fences), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), Liam Cunningham (The Vault), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Jess Hong (Grafted), Marlo Kelly (Dare Me), Alex Sharp (The Hustle), Sea Shimooka (Pink Skies Ahead), Zine Tseng (On A Whim), Saamer Usmani (Inventing Anna), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes), Rosalind Chao (The Joy Luck Club), Ben Schnetzer (Goat) and Eve Ridley (Little Baby Bum: Music Time). 

A teaser for the show was also officially released.
