2024 Emmys Announce Eugene And Dan Levy As Hosts

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC hired Eugene (American Pie, Splash) and Dan Levy (Happiest Season, The Idol)to be the 2024 Emmy hosts on Sept. 15. They are a fresh choice since neither person is associated with Disney. They won an Emmy for their show Schitt’s Creek, winning every comedy category in 2020. However, the Levys’ opening for the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards solidified them as host material. After careful consideration, they are preparing for the event at the Peacock Theater located at L.A. Live.

The topic of Emmy Hosts has always sparked audience’s interest. For many years, the hosting tasks went to a man or woman of comedy who also had broadcasting rights. However, the four networks that rotate to broadcast the televised event don’t have as much humor, prolonging the hosting choice.

Jimmy Kimmel (Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) is ABC’s number-one choice. The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! was nominated another time for an exceptional talk show and presented the previous three times his program was proposed. This year, though, he passed up the opportunity and followed up with the 2025 Oscars ceremony. Dana Walden (Family Guy, The Glee Project), the co-chair of Disney Entertainment, stated in an article via The Hollywood Reporter that Kimmel is the first person to be asked to host. Out of all the partners, he’s always the first choice. However, she understands that hosting on a daily basis is hard work. “He’s always our first choice in terms of partners. He represents our company so well, and he’s done such remarkable work… but hosting a daily show is a lot of work,” Walden said.”

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy  are now scheduled for the broadcast one month away from now. Dionne Harmon (BET Awards 2024), Jeannae Rouzan-Clay (Sunday Best) and Jesse Collins (The Bobby Brown Story) are the executive producers of the show. The Bear, Shotgun, and True Detective Night Country are the lead shows nominated for the most awards.

The audience might experience recognition when viewing the show. The previous Emmys were on hold due to the writers’ strike in 2023.

The 2024 Emmy awards will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
