The full list of nominations for the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards was announced Wednesday, with HBO’s Succession and Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso leading with five total nominations, according to Variety. Due to COVID-19, the SAG Awards were announced via Instagram for the second consecutive year, with Rosario Dawson (Dopesick) and Vanessa Hudgens (Tick, Tick, Boom!) announcing the honors.
In TV and film, WarnerMedia beat out all other streaming spaces, including the shows it produced for distributors like Apple and Netflix with 26 total nominations. Netflix followed with 17 nominations, and Disney trailed with 13 nominations. Still, Disney+’s Loki secured one nomination for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series alongside its fellow Marvel Studios series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Netflix’s Cobra Kai and Squid Game, and HBO’s Mare of Easttown. Mare of Easttown and Apple TV+’s The Morning Show both held the spot for the second-most nominations in television, with four each.
The Morning Show, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, Succession, Squid Game, and Paramount’s Yellowstone, were all nominated for the Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, with the latter series earning a nomination for one of few major awards in its four-season run. Squid Game is the first foreign-language series to receive a nomination for the SAG Awards.
Meanwhile, adding to its list of nominations in its two-season run, Ted Lasso will face off with Hulu’s The Great and Only Murders in the Building, HBO’s Hacks, and Netflix’s The Kominsky Method for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Ted Lasso‘s Jason Sudeikis (We’re The Millers) and Brett Goldstein (SuperBob) were also each nominated for an Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, alongside The Kominsky Method’s Michael Douglas (Basic Instinct) and Only Murders in the Building‘s Steve Martin (Cheaper by the Dozen) and Martin Short (Father of the Bride).
The SAG Awards will return to an in-person format this year, as opposed to its online ceremony in 2021. The event will take place at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar and will follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. It will take place on February 27 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
