‘1923’ Season Two Premiere Pays Tribute to the Late Cole Brings Plenty

According to Deadline, the second season premiere of 1923 opened with an “In Memoriam” tribute to Cole Brings Plenty (Into the Wild Frontier, The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger), who was found dead in Kansas last April at the age of 27. Brings Plenty, the nephew of Yellowstone actor Mo Brings Plenty (The Revenant, Cowboys & Aliens, Hell on Wheels), had a brief role as Pete Plenty Clouds in the show’s first season and also appeared in Into the Wild Frontier and The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger.

Before his passing, Brings Plenty had been reported missing after authorities in Lawrence, Kansas, issued a warrant for his arrest in connection to a domestic violence case. Deadline previously reported that the Johnson County (Kansas) Sheriff’s Office released the statement, “On April 5, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of the 200th and Homestead Lane in reference to an unoccupied vehicle…Investigations, Crime Scene Investigators and the Medical Examiner are on scene. This investigation is ongoing.”

Mo Brings Plenty and Yellowstone co-star Cole Hauser (2 Fast 2 Furious, Good Will Hunting, Rogue) had taken to social media to seek help in locating him. On April 5, 2024, deputies in Johnson County, Kansas, responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle. Their search led to the discovery of Brings Plenty’s body in a wooded area nearby. Officials did not release a cause of death.

In the new season, Jeremy Gauna (American Primeval, The Last SonThe Harbinger) has taken over the role of Pete Plenty Clouds, making his debut in the season premiere. The upcoming second season will depict tensions rising in the Montana highlands, where conflict looms amid an already brutal winter. The Dutton family faces a dire choice—fight for their land or risk losing everything. Their ranch becomes the center of an intense struggle as political forces and wealthy interests seek to reshape the region, turning it into “a playground for the elite.”
